Duplicate Title Instructions

Getting a duplicate title when the vehicle was last titled in Minnesota
 
The registered owner of the vehicle must follow these steps:
 
        1. Download and fill out the Minnesota Duplicate Title Application.
 
        2. You can do one of the following options:

 

• Bring the application to the Department of Public Safety.

 
                        Time frame to get the title: 7-10 Business Days
                        Cost to obtain: $17.50
 

 

 

• Mail the application to the Department of Public Safety.

                        Time frame to get the title: 4-6 Weeks
                        Cost to obtain: $17.50 

Getting a duplicate title when the vehicle was last titled outside of Minnesota

The registered owner of the vehicle must apply for a duplicate title through the state in which the vehicle was last titled in.
